Among other concerns, the landscape has always had a significant presence in my work. This is a selection from over 30 years of photography with a “sense of place” overriding other concerns. There is some crossover between this and “A Selection From Four Decades of Photography”, which is a more inclusive overview. Space, distance, air, light, gestures of growing things, “the lay of the land”, the seemingly serendipitous perfect placements, these and more take precedence over formal concerns, abstraction, intriguing juxtapositions, more heady artistic engagements. Hopefully some impression of being there, present, is communicated, and motivated the selection and of course, the initial creation of the images. “Arcadia” was created specifically as a background soundscape for this video.
